LOL. It's really not that bad in China. Only the industrialized areas are toxic waste dumps. The rural areas are just dirt poor. The global depression is going to hit China very hard. China is in the position that the US was in during the great depression. They may end up repeating what the US went through that time. That would be a disaster for the government. The only thing that keeps the people from rioting is the rising economy. The people went through hell for the revolution that did very little for decades. If the recent progress starts failing they are going to be very mad at the communist government for failing them after what they went through. The US is in new and uncharted territory this depression. No manufacturing to fall back on when goods stop shipping. Not enough food to feed everyone. large cities that are going to be cut off in three days if trucks stop moving. In a lot of ways it may not be as bad and in some areas worse. Could be interesting. One thing I am seeing is a huge interest in local currencies starting. It will be interesting to see if the FED and government take note and start ot outlaw them.

The Woolong is the currency used in the Japanese amime Cowboy Beebop. If you google anything you will find a Chinese toxic waste dump. So that doesn't count. The Woolong is on Wikipedia.

Greenbacks sound pretty funny as well. There are two issues with abundance. 1) We really don't have abundant resources, like food for everyone. Or rather we don't have them where we need them. 2) We should have abundant money because it is use a means to facilitate exchange of goods and services. So we should have money enough to move all the goods and services that need to be moved. But money is kept scarce by people who hoard it. Hence goods and services don't more and people are out of work. Money is not a commodity just a means to move commodities. This was corrupted by the moneyed interests.

and of course, in my slight dyslexic manner the headline showing "pringing" instead of "printing." But who cares... so many things change - for the better in the ultimate sense perhaps - that spelling errors feel benign. I imagine to pay a 100 Woolongs for the bike... These currencies sounds funny, here we go, "that costs you 5 treehuggers." I am laughing about it. See, I read James Howard Kunstler's blog.... really there is so much work out there. We just need to get organized to do the work not based on consumerism but on rational practicalities. today Kunsterl talks about a "State of Cringe." As we are in a state of fog. Now, with the "Law of Attraction I don't want to be negative, right? I often feel that Kunstler's thinking is in opposition to the "Law of Abundance" that the universe has always enough for everybody.... As joking as the tone of this post is the idea is an excellent one. History has proven that alternatives currencies that are not built on debt bring prosperity. Entering a period of history which could be a second great depression or greater having an alternative currency is an excellent idea. One that is totaly underground, not tied to the current financial system and one that grows with the earths resources not with the amount of electricity pumped into a printing press or in the case of the Federal Reserve the speed at which their fingers can click a mouse to create loans. I always like the name Woolong. It can already be found on google so getting better rankings is easy. It has a symbol which is simple and easy. If it is entirely electronic residing on electronic wallets in your pocket or purse and never in any bank then it is safe, secure and untraceable. Three very nice features for an underground economy. Of course when the real economy collapses the underground economy might be the only game in town.
